Heather Lightfoot Withrow, originally from Seattle, Washington, grew up  going to public schools until middle school when she transferred to Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver, Washington, where she graduated in 1994.  She studied and experimented with ceramics, wire sculpture, large-scale murals, painting and illustrations at Gallaudet University, graduating with a BA in Graphic Design in 1999 with a minor in Art History.  She also participated in various sports at WSD and Gallaudet as well as the Deaflympics three times (1997, 2001 and 2005) as a track and field multiple-medalist in the discus and hammer throw events.  She recently relocated to Austin, Texas with her husband, three children, a dog, a cat (currently in a distance relationship) and whatever roams in the nearby woods.
